"Gutter guard Pros and Cons"
I bought a gutter guard because I was tired of pulling out leaves and debris from inside my gutters constantly. To make matters worse, they always seemed to be clogged whenever I needed them most, in a terrible rainstorm. To correct this, I brought the M-5300 gutter guard, a nice and shiny metal guard which fits right in your gutters. There are small perforations to allow the water to go through yet prevent large debris from collecting in it. I've had these guard for about 3 years now, and I can say that I am definitely better with them than without them. The good thing about these guards is that debris won't get into your gutters, and so they won't get clogged, and you won't have to stick any long poles down to try to dislodge anything that has gotten stuck. In addition, it is relatively easy to clean, as you can just brush off the debris which collects on top of the gutter guard. There are disadvantages to the design, however. First, debris can still collect in your gutters, if it is small enough to go into there. There is still plenty of dirt and small fibers in the gutters, though they certainly do not cause as many problems as the old system. In addition, you can get plenty of mildew and molds in the gutters, because the small holes in the guard seem to prevent moisture from being effectively removed through evaporation, and strange smells and slimes can start to appear in your gutters. This will require additional cleaning, which I have had to do a few times. This cleaning may in some circumstances be worse than before I got the guards, as the debris previously was mostly dry and not slimy. And because the velocity of the rain droplets is reduced as it goes into the gutter, the dirt and other things which promote mildew growth are not effectively washed away. All in all, this product has both pros and cons, and it is quite subjective as to whether this product is actually a net benefit or a net loss. For me, it's somewhere in the middle.
