I had a house build in 1997 and had 30 years Certainteed shingles put on and already at only 12 1/2 years I have to replace them. They look awful and are a very poorly made product. I hope the company will back up it 30 year life guarantee!!!

"shingles put on 7 years ago"
We had them installed 7 years go by a reliable installer. Had him come back the other day and he took pictures of the shingles and told us we had to send in 2 shingles(which he took off) and send them along with the pictures to Certainteed and maybe would get some compensation . We are by no means the only house in Cedar Rapids that the shingles have gone to pot on. We were told that back then they started making them with a paper and cardboard base instead of a rag base. I think it is a shame that we as senior citizens have to experience this cost again when we thought we were covered in new shingles for the rest of our lives. We were shocked to find our that a 20-30 year shingle isn't what it is claimed to be . It is more like 5 years. Too bad a class action suit is not started to help people out on this. We are not suing people , but this may be a case.

"Hearthstead"
The shingles on our 12 year old home are in very bad shape. Investigation has revealed that we are not alone in having this problem with this company. We hope to find some recourse.
